You have been losing weight successfully over the last few weeks with your new weight loss regime but the scales have stopped moving over the last few days. What is going wrong?
Generally, on any new weight loss program you will lose weight quickly over the first few weeks but then, the scales start slowing down and you might even stop losing weight. You have reached a weight loss plateau.What this basically means is that your body has become accustomed to your diet and exercise and it has therefore stopped helping you lose the weight.
What you need to do now is to change your calorie intake and output. To lose weight your calorie input has to be less than your calorie output. Therefore changing your diet to a lower calorie diet and increasing your exercise is the best way to overcome the plateau. Sometimes taking a weight loss supplement with Chromium (it has been promoted to boost lean mass and decrease body fat) and Hoodia Gordonii (a cactus plant used in diet supplements advertised as appetite suppressants to treat obesity)
Here are some methods that you can follow to move from the plateau of weight loss.
- Reduce your calorie intake. But not less than 1200 calories a day as this will slow your metabolism rate and will prevent you from losing weight. Your body will go into starvation mode and will hold on to the fats.
- Take a weight loss supplement to help burn those extra calories
- Change your exercise regime – do 30 minutes of cardio exercises at least 4 times a week and do some strength training twice a week. Remember as your body gets used to the same exercise regime, your body will not be challenged enough. Change the type of exercise you do – try a mixture of Zumba, Pump, Jogging, Kickboxing and much more.

- Remember to drink at least 2 litres of water a day. The reason for this is as you lose weight the toxins from your fat cells breakdown and you need the water to flush the toxins out. It is therefore very important to drink that water.
- Remember it is a lot faster to gain the pounds than to lose it so you need to persevere.
